“Walk ON” in Memory of Your Sibling

at the 6th Annual Lap4Life race on June 21, 2014

NEWBURGH, NY-- The 6^th annual Lap4Life run /walk will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Chadwick Lake Park in the Town of Newburgh. The Lap4Life Foundation's premier fundraising event is a four mile lap around Newburgh’s scenic Chadwick Lake Park.  The run will begin at 9:15 am, the four mile walk will begin at 9:20 am, and the kids "fun run" will begin after the awards ceremony.

Lap4Life was started out of a sister’s love for her brother. Founder, Maddalena Casabianca-Reade started the foundation as a way to do something to support her brother, Dr. Angelo Casabianca who was battling a rare tumor, a Desmoid tumor from the age of 30.  Angelo proudly walked in the first Lap4Life event in June 2009.  He lost his battle six months later at the age of 39.  The Lap4Life event continues in his memory the third Saturday of each June at Chadwick Lake Park, in Newburgh, NY.   

The Lap4Life Foundation focuses on Desmoid Tumor research and Organ Donation.  There is a desperate need for continued research into the biology and treatment of Desmoid Tumors. Organ donation requires continued research to find new ways to improve outcomes for recipients, and just as importantly needs more awareness for potential donor registration, especially here in the Hudson Valley.

This year Lap4Life will be adding a Sibling Ceremony to the event.  Losing a sibling is losing a piece of yourself.  Lap4Life invites anyone who has lost a sibling to come out and “Walk On” in memory of their sibling on June 21^st.  We are asking individuals who participate to send in a picture of their sibling to Lap4Life at 54 North Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.  We will have a Sibling memory board to honor all those who lost their life too soon.  We will hold a Sibling Ceremony at the Opening Ceremony on June 21^st 9:00am. 

Please join the Lap4Life Foundation at the 6th Annual Lap4Life Run / Walk on Saturday, June 21, 2014 in memory of Dr. Angelo Casabianca.  It will be held at Chadwick Lake, in Newburgh, NY.  All proceeds from the event will benefit the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation and the New York Organ Donor Network. 

More About the Event:

The 6th annual Lap4Life Run/Walk is a fun-filled day for the entire family.  Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female runners and the overall male and female walker. In addition to the races, Lap4Life will also be host to a community health fair and exhibition. Participants in the fair include the NY Organ Donor Network, At Your Feet Footcare, The Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation, local gyms, massage therapists, physical therapists, local doctors, and many more. Activities include face painting for children, bouncy houses, massages, silent auction/ raffle items, and a pre- race boot camp and zumba. Live music will serve as entertainment and plenty of food, beverages, and refreshments will be available on race day.
