Flat design is more than an artistic treatment - it's a response to serious functionality skeuomorphism issues. #digital #design

For every action, there is a reaction. And in the world of digital design, flat imagery is cropping up more, in part as a reaction against skeumorphism. Skeuomorphism is the practice of incorporating the look of an object that was made in another material into a design: what was once functionality becomes ornamentation.

Privacy Law Alert: Data Breach Leads to Bankruptcy

Data Breach Resulting in Bankruptcy Declaring bankruptcy as a result of a data breach is a dramatic and potentially avoidable consequence of a data breach – a growing and persistent threat for every company. Recently, the theft of two computer hard-drives containing the medical records of approximately 14,000 people drove a company, Impairment Resources LLC, out of business and left its clients with the resulting liability. This risk, however, can possibly be avoided with relatively simple steps that can both help you avoid a data breach altogether, and mitigate the damage and disruption if one does occur.

What Is the Difference Between Corporate Branding and Consumer Branding? #branding #marketing

Branding is the combination of an organization or product’s image, familiarity and reputation. Successful branding is what creates the lasting recognition among consumers that makes someone or something a “household name,” the first thing that comes to mind when your consumers think of a need or desire related to your brand.

Ohio’s Court of Appeals has upheld a lower court’s order imposing sanctions against the owner of a nursing home for the unexplained missing hard drive from the computer of its former CEO. Altercare Inc. v. Clark, 2013 Ohio 2785 (9th Dist. Ohio June 28, 2013). The Court found the facility’s “utter disregard for the preservation of evidence” caused the plaintiff to suffer prejudice.

Poor Lily is a punk band from New York.

About Us

Poor Lily is a punk band from New York. Dom Baiocco drums, Max Capshaw plays guitar, Adam Wisnieski plays bass and sings. Our first self-titled record was released in 2011, followed by an EP in 2012. We recorded our second full-length, Vuxola, in early 2013 and it will be released on August 13.
Here’s what some people have said about our first two releases:
“High powered, high caliber wrecking-ball rock drawing from the well of NoMeansNo, Victims Family, etc. Vocals that channel the ghost of D. Boon and the songs are jarring, particularly the final, three-minute-plus “Third Rail,” which rides a scintillating guitar signature into more of a focused frenzy. The other two song possess a chaotic, ripsaw approach. Definitely worthy of your attention.” — Al Quint, Suburban Voice on Three Songs
“Even though two-thirds of this band have held down regular jobs and raised families, they still musically sound like 19 year olds who like screaming, moshing, shop lifting and going to the record store every Saturday.” —The Needle Drop
“… an SST-ish breath of rancid smog who bring some reality and meaning back into the hardcore aesthetic.” — Chuck Foster, The Big Takeover
9.27.13-FB
“Poor Lily’s album is a reminder of how vibrant the noise coming out of the hardcore and punk scenes can occasionally be: innovative, inventive, interesting. There are moments of straightforward hardcore here, but they’re disrupted by an endless stream of ideas. It is for the best, really. It’s not shoegazing, it’s not pretentious, but it’s not straightforward or cliché. It’s just fucking loud and interesting. Thank fuck for that.” — Punknews.org
“This shit is harsh. Excessively harsh, and perhaps a bit polarizing … I’m pretty sure it’ll grow on me, though. It’s worth a listen or two. Or three. Or as many times as it takes for you to grasp what the hell’s going on.” — Bucking Flunt

Media Strategist
